B2B Product Makers is a forum for issues and trends faced by Product Managers, Technical Product Managers and Product Marketing Managers of software tools and solutions in the B2B space.

What makes us different?

First, at B2B Product Makers, we have no products or services to sell. Our sole motivation is to help raise the chances of success of individual Product Managers by improving their awareness and knowledge. If one day one of our post helps you doing your job, let us know and it will make our day.

Second, we are in the inside looking out. This blog results from the association of several career product managers who wanted to convey their successes, failures and what they learned from it. Just like you, we are in the battlefield getting bruised everyday for the satisfaction of getting our next product out and making a customer happy.

Our blog thrives on constructive criticism and we know that sometimes the most interesting part of the blog resides in the comment section. We have a lot to learn as well so please feel free to comment and disagree.

David Radzialowski  

David is a strategic focused Technology Manager with a passion for New Product Development Management. He has a strong hands-on background in SaaS with experience on both the software development and infrastructure management sides of the business. He is currently employed as an IT Program Manager for a large SaaS workflow products provider.

Additionally, David consults with startup companies and companies launching new products to assist with their product planning and strategic partnership development. He also dabbles a bit in Performance Marketing and Content-Based Marketing as part of a joint venture called Infinitely Squared. He has a bachelors degree in Computer Science from Indiana University and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. During his off hours, he and his wife Mary spend time renovating their historic home and, when he can, he sneaks off to nap with his two retired racing greyhounds.David can be contacted at dradzialowski@b2bproductmakers.com.

Joshua Steffan    

Joshua has over 9 years of product management / marketing experience with leading commercial software and web companies. At CCC Information Services in Chicago, he piloted cradle-to-grave product strategies and vision for a $40+ million portfolio of web-based (SaaS) products for the personal automotive insurance industry. Prior to that, Joshua directed product management at Quest Software and brought to market several version 1.0 database products.

Earlier, Joshua was regional manager of solution consulting with Platinum technology (now Computer Associates) where he lead the Midwest pre and post sales process with direct and channel customers, and was twice recognized for outstanding sales performance with the President’s Club Award.

Joshua holds an MBA with honors from the University of Chicago and a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Northern Illinois University, where he graduated cum laude. Joshua enjoys exploring Chicago with his wife, Vera and can be caught with his favorite wood-axle yo-yo when trying to work out a particularly challenging problem. Thierry Roullier    

Thierry has managed B2B products for 15 years in the electronic, packaged goods, insurance, internet and telecommunication industries in France, California and Chicago. He began his career by designing power supplies for the aerospace industry in France.

Thierry’s main areas of interest are the launching of new products as well as the organizational aspects of product management. His most recent articles were published in The Subrogator, a trade magazine for the insurance industry. He also was a speaker at the Data Governance Conference in 2009 in San Diego.

Thierry holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, and an MSEE from the Ohio State University, as well as a Diplôme d’Ingénieur from ESIEE in France. During his spare time, Thierry plays tenor sax and stubbornly tries to fix his old SS175 Harley  from 1976 likes to ride his 1974 BMW R90/6. Michael Moran    

Most recently Michael was the global product manager for an enterprise software company in developing and delivering solutions to the public sector market.  He has over a decade of expertise in information technology with specialization in requirements for knowledge management, business intelligence and data integration.

Prior to becoming a product manager, Michael was on the business side of data integration challenges through his experience in running the Customer Data Integration (CDI) team for Dell and a web development team with CSC implementing a state-of-the-art enterprise portal capability for the Missile Defense Agency.  He also served over ten years as an active duty officer in the U.S. Navy performing in various communications and information / knowledge management roles across the globe.

Michael holds an MBA, with emphasis in MIS, from the University of Hawaii – Manoa and a BSc Psychology from Texas A&M University.  In the theoretical construct known as “free time”, he likes to spend it with his wife Jane and three children: Lucy, Jack and Elyse – particularly when all are engaged in TaeKwonDo.
